is this stand pipe in the correct postion???

the way i have it connected to the bulkhead it leaves me with 2 cm of play, so will i go 2 cm lower just incase and then ill be able to adjust it while i do the wet test

when a stand pipe is set at a certain height it doesnt need to be adjusted does it??

Looks OK to me. Do you have a valve on the blue tubing? It would help you if you need to reduce the air flow to fine tune it.

Looks good to me as well. You could always cut just a tiny bit off if needed.

that blue air line has a small tap black tap on it so i can adjust the air flow through the end cap,

ill cut the 1 cm off the end of the stand pipe so ill have a little bit of play

i cut 1 cm of the stand pipe, the opening is now 1cm lower than in the picture than in the picture,

im wet testing the tank and that now, the air seems to be building up in the stand pipe and releasing all at once every few minutes whys this happening???

If it is flushing you do not have enough air getting in. Your air inlet may not be big enough.

For my stand pipes I have caps on short pup pieces of pipe. I drilled multiple large holes in them and sanded to cap ID and pipe OD so I can turn them by hand.

Here is a pic. You can see the holes if you look hard.

what are those pipes coming off the side


i have it working well now, i was getting back pressure because the pipe was too far under the water, the problem is now that its 1 " above the water and its splashing into the sump, this is really noisey worse than the gurgling from the back pressure, what will i do?

im using flexi pipe, would i be better off with hard pipe for the peice that goes from the bulkhead to the sump?

The pipe that tee's id my return. It does not look like that now. The ends point straight down behind the rocks. Good catch on the back pressure. I have my returns right at the waters surface with a 90 then a bit of pipe. No splash at all. Let me find a pic.

my return is fine its the overflow pipe just as it enters the sump thats the problem

its really loud, the water is splashing into the sump from 1" above the water, if i put the pipe under the water at all i get back pressure, does that mean the stand pipe isint made properly

I had the same issues. Look at the pic with the skimmer in it. You can see my drain lines right at the surface of the sump, behind the skimmer body. No splash and no back pressure. If you need to trace it out start with the ball valves then unions and that will put you in the correct place.

im not sure what u mean?

i made this the other night because the flexi tube i was using is ribbed and the water was noisey coming down the pipe, but now with the hard pipe i keep getting a flush effect and thats worse than the noise from the ribbed flexi stuff, any ideas??

Put an elbow on it where half the end is out the water at normal operating sump level. Put a couple inch run of pipe on the outlet and you should be good. It works well for me now and did in the past.
