Okay it's nothing crazy but i got tired of having my reactors fill up with detritus/crap which eventually shortens the useful life of the product and makes it more expensive. So i came up with this idea. It can be modified to be used as a pump prefilter as well. The diameter is nice because it allows plenty of water to get through. Parts i used are a 5inch to 4inch reducing coupling. One 4" cap. A set of fluval 303 sponges from petlands, they fit perfect. I drilled a hole in the pvc, inserted the hose through for a snug fit and attached it together. I wanted to make the output neater, but that's all i had on hand. Then i fitted the sponge on top. The sponge is easy to keep clean and it keeps alot of crap from clogging the reactor prematurely.

Thanks Vic. There's room for more pumps too if you have. I would say that 2 fit nicely inside.
