Naive Coral Question #4,927

Hi,


If you insert a frag of Yellow Montipora into a large Colony of very similiar Orange Montipora, will the Frag merge into the Colony? Can you end up with a two-tone colony?

I just did a search and cant find it, but there was a thread on RC about different morphs of various montiporas seeming to merge together but without any real interesting effect. They just kind of touched, merged together and the grew in the other direction.

Oh yea...anchor steam in not bad.

I read the thread on RC too that Matt's describing. The results were interesting but I wouldn't say they grew together. They just grew til they touched and that was pretty much it. Havent seen that thread in a while though, I'll try to find it for you.

Thanks for the replies and thread. From the pics in that thread, It looks like they1ll grow together just fine.

I think it depends on the cap. I had two caps touch and on continued to grow as it seemed to kill off the other....
