Tobin, kedd had his colonies very close to a 250w 10k evc. Probably about 12" from the bulb. I have had this coral under a bunch of bulbs and wattages over the last few years and it always looked best under a more yellow bulb. For me it was a 250w 10k BLV + actinics.
IME if you see green tint for you have it placed too low and or your phosphate is too high. If it fades......well, you're bleaching it.

I have 400 watt 12k bulbs I'll try to put it up higher... I have it in the middle for acclimation for about 3 days now... Color still looks pretty decent.. When I got it it was half browned out with a green base..
My phosphates are .6 on a Hanna meter.. Should I lower them some???

.06 is a little high but not bad. You can leave it there or lower it a bit of you see a lot of green or darker colors. Here was a picture of mine under 400w 10k reeflux and my po4 was around .03.

Tobin do you mean .06 phosphate or .6?

if u lost the color on the polyps, ur lighting is not strong enough. but that should not kill the coral. there r many other reasons for that. if u wanna keep this 1, take a pic of it every 3 days with the same settings so in case it goes downhill. we can advice better with pics.
theres a lot u can detect just by looking how a coral look. like they say, a pic is worth a 1000 words.

I never killed the other one I just gave up on it and left it in the spot it was in.. It remains light but grows slowly... The new one is holding the color on the one branch that had the yellow with purple polyps... I will get someone with a good cam to stop by someday,,,lol..

Sorry I took so long but I finally got my camera back from my Dad... Here is a pic of the yellow with green polyps.... It was this color when I got it about a month ago and it is still the same color.. Not lightening up on the body only on the one tip..
