Over the past few weeks I've noticed some tissue degeneration on my coral. I was out of town for a week and now it has developed holes. This is all happening along an outer rim of the coral. Is this thing dying on me on just dividing? All other corals are happy but maybe there is something extra I'm missing as far as requirements or water quality. Other then these weird holes that are opening up, the coral has great polyp extension and looks great during the light cycle. Occasionaly it does act as if it's not happy by shuting down and shedding a layer of slime. I'm not sure what I'm dealing with here. Any ideas?

Thanks!

My devil hand toad stool does the same thing. I personally think it is the coral's way of propagation. On mine, the hole stats at the base of one of the fingers and eventually the hole will enlarge and the finger falls off and gets carried away by waves. The shed finger will then form other colonies. I had a dozen babies at one time. The coral will then heal itself and after 2 weeks you can not tell a finger came off.

I hope that helps.
