I am new to this...... and i am having trouble getting coral to stay where i put it. It will stay a first but when i get home later on at night i have to look for it in the tank.
first you have to make sure the coral is trained. untrained corals just don't follow directions very well. just do what i do , if it does not not listen to your commands them get some newspaper roll it up and wack it on the nose. lol. just kidding.
just get some crazy glue gel for hard corals or a toothpick and a rubber band for soft corals.
For hard corals, I use Loctite Super Glue, which can be purchased at Home Depot for $2.8. For Soft Corals, I use the mesh method to cover the coral for a few days then it mends itself to the rock, and I remove the mesh afterwards.
First..examine what is in your tank. Larger hermits like electric blues act like bulldozers. So do sea urchins, and larger snails like turbo's. I have found that there are times when I have to use both plumber's epoxy and super glue gel...one of them alone just doesn't hold for long.
sometimes when you use glue on a soft coral, the soft coral will exude a mucus and release itself from the glue. the best method I have found is to push a toothpick through the coral and then use a rubberband to hold the toothpick on a piece of rubble. the coral will then adhere itself to the rubble and you can remove the toothpick, if the coral hasn't pushed it out already. another method which works well with zoos is the mesh method. take a piece of mesh with medium holes on it and cover the coral on a piece of rubble, in a few days the zoos will adhere themselves to the rubble and you can remove the mesh. window screening works well for this, the non metal kind.
