Fox coral trouble

I think my fox coral is dying.
ive had it for about a month. the fleshy part of the coral dosnt seem to be comine out as far.
i picked it up to inspec it and noticed a small hole on the side of the base (a crack not natural hole). could this be why? and if so is ther anything i can do about it?

cant provide a picture right now im at work maybe later
but i move it to the back of the tank last night and it seemed to open up a little more.
Still worried about that cracK
would appreciate any advice

Ever since i moved it, it seems to be ok.
maybe it likes the back of the tank better, less flow less light
