Can anyone tell me(even though it is blurry)what this white spot might be on my Chili Coral? The spot is getting larger but at this point isn't affecting the coral(so it appears). The coral still puffs up at night and extends all of it's white tentacles. However, if this is an infection or something I would like to treat it if possible.

Thanks.

While that is always possible in any situation give the delicate nature of reefing, it has actually doubled in size since purchasing it several months ago from WWF in Astoria. It seems to love hanging upside down(as my research indicated)and it is right in front of one of my pump, so it gets plenty of movement. I feed the tank cyclopseeze, krill sometimes baby brine shrimp. The Chili loves them; it's little white "flowers" grab lots of them. The spot just appeared about 5 weeks ago, but seems to be growing faster. The other corals are doing great(zoos, polyps, frogspawn, leather coral, toadstool coral).
It looks almost like a worm or something has buried into it.

They would be highlit if you searched for those terms.

I moved the thread because this will always be a coral question. You won't always be a beginner ;)

So...if anyone is still reading...
The white spot, actually got larger and resembled a barnacale that you would find on a boat or wooden pole in the water. Last Saturday, it "fell off" during the early evening...that's right...fell off. It left what looked like a white "tail" sticking out of the chili coral. Yes, it sounds strange. It almost looked like a small spikey tail sticking out...I found it strange. I was going to do some investigating later that evening, but much to my surprise, when I looked...it too was GONE. There seemed to be a little "hole" there...did it bury itself in the coral? was it a worm? what was IT in general...I do not know. The coral itself has since been doing great...it puffs up at night, opens it white "flowers" and seems to be fine....

If anyone has thought on if this was growth, eggs from something ELSE in my tank...or just the twilight zone, please let me know.

thanks!

i have heard of worms burrowing in corals. maybe you have this type of parasite. hopefully the worm left when whatever that was fell off. if you can find the thing that fell off i would probably remove it in case it has anything to do with hatching more of them
