Here are a few pictures showing the splitting process.
The first picture you can see two mourhs if you look closely. Oneclose to one end and the other near the other end. The other pictures show the polyp pinching in the middle like a figure 8 until you it ends up with two full heads.

THey relase these clear tentacles. Do you guys target feed them? anyone?

I feed my candy canes in the day, they'll eat nearly a 1/4th of a silverside per head, takes a while to swallow down but they'll eat the whole thing. They really start growing huge if you feed them on a regular basis. But then watch your water quality parameters.

Lights off at 7:30, I usually feed after 9:30 when I do. I take a frozen cube of Mysis, defrose it, rinse it with distilled water, drip some garlic extreme on it (1 - 2 drops)then add it to the tank. the corals get their share

I don't feed mine but maybe that is why they grow so slow. The tentacles are very short most of the time. The one you see here broke off by accident from a colony and when that happened it had almost no base and the tentacles got as long as 2 inches. But now they are back to being short.
Once they split each one grows on its own and eventualy you will see it branch apart.
I would love to have some bright green ones chief.

I dont feed my CC's and they are constantly splitting. It depends all on the lighting, water quality and water movement IMO. Some say that CC's dont like to be close to light, but mine are nice and plump and its the only Coral closest to the light.

Yeah no joke, I initially i started feeding them slivers of silversides and then a bigger piece that was meant for my duncan got caught by the candycane and it slowly devoured it. So now I know it'll eat at most 3/8th of a silverside, otherwise it'll just spit out the uneaten part. Funny thing though the duncan will eat 1/2 a silverside, more if you cut it up and keep feeding it piece by piece.

Yeah I never fed them either but I think they'll grow even more. Buddy of mine gave me a colony of green "huge" button polyps and they are growing ok, catching, closing and devouring whatever falls on them. He on the other hand target feeds them and his colony is as thick as grass in the park.

Thanks for claryfying. I'll start feeding as soon as they get moved to their new home.

I have two softball size colonies for over ten years and they reproduce by splitting and dropping polyps. It's not necessary to feed, but it does help. Very hardy coral which will adapt to all types of lighting and flow, but good water quality is a must for good PE....They grow anywhere in my tank.
Here is one of them...
