I have a watermelon chalice that was doing well for awhile but since I switched tanks looked at it today and it's starting to recede.
Anything I can do to save it?
Lost an alien chalice once it started receding.
It was in the sandbed but put it on top of a piece of rock for now.Kept it away from flow.
Any ideas on how to save it?

Thanks

I'm not the best at taking pics but here goes.
The first shot is where it was placed. as you can see there's not much flow there.

The second pic is how the flow is there. I aimed it towards the back.

This is a pretty bad pick.

This last one is where I put it right now. Midway of tank but sorta placed it under the ledge.

I'm not sure how to get a closer pic. Whenever i try it gets blurry. I have a canon sd800.
Sorry tank is so messy. It was growing well in my AP. Was getting thicker and more color.
Doesn't lookas thick anymore. Talked to Pnoy and he said it could be alk, but I dont' know when my test kit is coming in.

What salt do you use? (not that I have an answer for you, but some brands of salt have little alk in them, might be helpful info)
Did you change your lighting when you changed tanks?

I thought mixing salt brands is bad. Could be wrong though.

If your alk controlls your PH level. So if thats fine for the most part alk should be within range. But it also could be a mag problem. Ive had a few chalices show stress when my mag dropped low.

What fish do you keep, what other inverts do you have? Might be something picking at it. If there is a parameter problem you would be seeing it in more of your coral also. Is there cyano on the skeleton as its receding? Any other algae growing?

do u feed ur tank? if its stressed and weak it will let the algeatake over whr it recedes...it does not need alot of flow, considering i have kept them for the last 3 years, and when i fed them cyclopeze they respond and grow...it dosent sound like a water problem...and it could b too many water changes if u have been doing some

If its not your water parameters or lighting, my guess is that your not getting enough flow on the chalice. I know chalices like low flow but the way your powerheads are pointing, you could have a dead spot in that corner of the tank. One of my chalice lost color and when i gave it more flow it colored up and started to grow out nicely. Just a thought for you to consider.
