the head of mine is getting huge and blocking out the light. i read that u clip the entire cap off and then cut it like a pizza pie. is this right? the stalk will grow a new head? seems weird to cut the whole thing off.

Cut out a ring around the edge and leave the inside cap alone. Then you can cut up the ring and either tie them down or toothpick them to substrate. Doesn't take very long for it to attach. Few days under good conditions.

This is an excellent method to have the mother colony retain her "toadstool mushroom" appearance.

Here's how to maximize frags, if that's your goal: Toadstool Fragging. Not too sure how the superglue gel will work to hold the frags in place though

not sure if it works with neon toadstools, but when I frag my plain toadstool, I just throw the frags in a low flow corner of the tank.

They all grow little stems and pick up some substrate. Then, I either give them away or glue them down.

Ming has a good method for getting them to attach to rocks. Poke a toothpick through the middle of the frag and then glue the tooth pick to the rock. Sounds much easier than trying to get the glue to stick to the frags.

I'll take a picture of your yellow leather with a toothpick stuck through it later on tonight.
After the frag is encrusted, the hardest part is removing the toothpick without pulling the frag off the rock, so you need some thought into where to glue the toothpick.
