I wouldn't say the Xenia is dead. They do that meaning stop pulsing.Mine do that all the time.Other times they go crazy.I have two different types of xenia and just this past July I went away for 3 weeks and upon returning my white pom pom xenia was no where to be seen on the rock it was on when I left.I thought it died and to my surprise within a month I saw it growing back.It took almost 3 months but it is back to the same size it was pumping away and sometimes not.
Sometimes when it dies there might be one xenia left and then from that one you will get a whole colony. Leave it alone if its dead it will just "melt away"
