I lost a Yuma yesterday. I got it at the swap and from day one it looked great and ate fine. It puked out a white fluffy mass, it looked like fungus in a way and them it disintegrated in about 2 hrs. I've seen them spit out Xooanthelle and the Messatential Filaments (I doubt I spelled either of those corectly), but never this white stuff. My params all are in decent shape, but not perfect, the ph is a little low at 8.0 but rock solid at this range, my Alk is a lttle on the high range and my Cal is a little on the low range. I have not messed with trying to adjust the ph as I feel it's better to have it at a steady level. I am adjusting the Cal and Alk slowly to get them leveled out using Randy's recipe.

I know Yuma's are tricky, but are they sensative to a higher Alk or lower Cal?

I placed it in the front corner of the tank where the light is'nt as intense and the flow is a little gentler.

Has anyone ever experinced this?

Luckily there was a baby under the momma and so far it looks fine.

I've had some yumas now for years, and others that died within weeks of arrival from a vendor. Sometimes the yuma arrives in a weakened state due to transportation and collection techniques from the harvester to wholesaler to retailer, and its tough for it to survive even with perfect parameters in our tanks.
