I've had some SPS pieces growing in my old tank under power compacts (browning, but growing!) and I've moved them to my new tank with MH. I started all of them at the bottom, shaded and then slowly moved some of them to the top over the course of a week. Some of the pieces are loving it (green polyp stag, purple nana, pocillapora), one I knew to keep kind of low (green polyp stylophora), but my birdnest coral (up high), my psammi (down low) and one orange cap frag are bleaching. Will they recover? They still seem to be extending the polyps.

Actually, I can't tell if one of the birdsnest corals is bleaching or coloring. It might be going back to pink, as it looks happier now polyp-wise than it ever was in my other tank.

Advice?

I assume that you are putting them into the 40br?

from you thread...

40br drilled AGA internal overflow w/ 10g sump
AquaC EV 120 Skimmer
Pacific Coast 1/10 HP chiller
Blue Line 40 HD-X external pump
2 x 175w Ushio 14K (I think) MH w/ 36" PFO Parallel Reflector
2 x 65w PC actinic supplementation
Blueline dual electronic ballast
ACjr.
8g ghetto bucket fuge
approx. 50 lbs LR
ESV fine grade aragonite sand
flow to be determined .. maybe a Seio?
2 TLF reactors - 1 phosban, 1 carbon
DIY ATO system

What flow did you decide upon?

decrease your salinity to .025 and increase your alk to 10 - monti's are Dkh sponges.

Do this even slower than you took to move your corals.

I would have moved them up over 3 weeks time - monti's take a little time and Seriatpora are fickle as well.

Both are relatively resilient and should bounce back -

Did you add new rock? unbalance the load?

I currently have 1 MJ 900 - Modded with the 1600gph impeller, 1 MJ 900 non-modded, my returns (pushing probably around 200-300 gph with head loss), and a smaller powerhead for localized flow where the others can't reach. The surface of my water is churning up pretty well.

Superman Monti, Green Cap and Puple Nana are all coloring up noticeably. Green polyp stylo also looks happy - coloring a bit and polyps are no longer hyper-extended. Same goes for pocillapora.

Okay, will work on Alk. Not so worried about the monti cap - like I said, I have six pieces of it (since I accidently shattered one big one) and only one shows signs of bleaching. I'm more worried about the birdsnest and psammi.
