Hey - I just noticed this - this coral did NOT look like this last night...

It seems that several branches of this coral are broken at the branch point. They are a little white at the branch point and are still attached, but not entirely.

Only one frag seems to be affected. these have been in my tank for about a month. Three other frags are doing fine.

Suggestions?

Will test water soon - have not done tests in a while...

Kenya trees "drop" branches as a method of propagation. The released branch will "blow around" until it finds itself wedged somewhere, where it will attach, grow and repeat the sequence again. In my experience, happy Kenyas do this.

This is a good and a bad thing...well it depends how you look at it.
Good thing - Like Deanos said the kenya is happy and it's doing it's natural thing.
Bad thing - You will have a ton of kenya trees all over the place. :D

I started with one small piece of kenya and ended up with a quarter of my tank being a kenya forest. If you don't want a forest try to find the pieces and put them in a seperate tank to start new pieces.

I agree...this is a bad thing...i got a kenya tree from Albert..so of course it was on steroids and that thing tried to take over my tank....i even had a piece of kenya behind my rockwork and it still strived and tried to reproduce....its a nice coral but it may become a nuisance.....

Kenyas are definitely becoming a nuisance in my tank - huge forests... I've read up on aiptasia - is there anything that will eat Kenyas?

I too have a kenya that has dropped many branches and as ws said they find a rock and attach themselves to it. It was my first coral and I can see where it could get out of hand.
