Dosage?!?

ok, i need to treat my tank for red bugs, i have the interceptor 6 pack for large dogs and need the dosage for treatment...ive read the reefs.org artical and the RC threads but i cant or due to advanced old age im not comprihending the dosage needed...here is a blurb from the reefs.org dosage req..
"The dosage used in an aquarium to kill redbugs is 25mg (0.025 grams) per 10 gallons of actual tank water . That is 25mg of the entire tablet. Each tablet in the pack of 6 will treat about 380 gallons. The tablets are ground with a mortar and pestle into a fine powder. "

at first it reads to me i need 10 pills for 250 Gal of water?!? or the "entire pack of 6 treats 380 G...i dont get it...can any1 decipher?

if you have the dosage for large dogs 1 tablet will treat 360 gallons of water so if you cut that in 4 you will get a dosage for 90 gallons...so I think if you have 120g the use half of the pill that will treat 180g of water...

Interesting Conversation w/ my Vet about Interceptor.
I was at the vet today talking about interceptor treatments on reef tanks.

She said that the active ingredient in the tablets are not evenly distributed throughout the pill. So if you use a Large Breed Tablet and split it up for multiple treatments. There is a chance that Most of the active ingredient could be in one dose and another dose be nothing but that delicious beefy flavor.

She recommended using a pill that is suited to the size of your system and using the entire pill. So i will continue to use my pills for my small dogs on my tank and just get replacements as needed instead of getting a box of the large pills strictly for my tank.

sorry here it is again 1 Pill (tablet) can cure 380g of water volume. so If you have 120g + your sump total.. Im assuming your total water volume will be 160-170g. cut the pill in half whichis 190gallons of water volume. Use the other half in a week or so for a follow up treatment.. As for me I just overdose my 120 before and drop the whole tablet and let it run for a day and works like a charm 7 months now and my acro's looking sweet :p

I don't believe in the one week inbetween doses. If you dig and find the original article on the "Hey I bet I can use this dog medicine on my reef tank" you'll find that the one week period was picked completely arbitrarily. I don't think these buggers have a gestation period that long. One week is a VERY VERY long time to animals that size. IMO 48 hours is a much better time frame if you're trying to get ahead of their reproductive cycle, which is 85% of the battle with pests like this.

When I waged war on these b@stards I killed them all off in under a week. Just do as folows:

1. Ground half a tablet up as fine as you possibly can and mix up with some Ro.
2. Stop skimming, stop running carbon, stop running any type of Phos media.
3. Dose the interceptor solution
4. After 48 hours perform a 20% water change and dose again.
5. After 36-48 hours do a 20% water change and dose again.
6. Do a 20% water change and start skimming, running carbon and running phos media.

I did half a tablet on 80 gallons of total volume without any adverse effects so feel free to up the dosage.

the only thing is run your skimmer but not skimming don't turn it off and if you are running Phosbhan reactor take out the carbon, phosbhan. and let the reactor run and even CA reactor as you want the water with interceptor goes to all your equipment that runs your tank water. and from there on follow the steps above from fritz
