I pry mine off using a thin piece of plastic, like a collar stay. Slowly work the plastic between the mushroom and the rock. I've even ripped shrooms by accident, with them spilling their guts out, and they still survive.

Are they the same type of mushroom?I'm taking the one covering the other was asexually produced? If so leave it they will move themselves away as they bud off as individuals.

I agree, let them be. But if for some reason or other you want it somewhere else or you want to trade it then what I use is a single edge razor blade. To slice into the rock (it does give) so that when it comes off it still has some rock attached and therefore will not blow around. If you mess up and end up cutting the mushroom it will usually heal quickly.

Take the crab and glue the shell onto a small rock. Surround that rock with numerous shells. The hermit will leave the glued down shell for one of the others and now you've got a mounted mushroom.
