hey I didn't think a picture was necessary because these , basically I have these white strings about 1-2 cm long all over my live rock, when I feed, if any food hits the rock these strings pick it up, they seem to absorb it, the strings come out of these tubes that are about 1/8-1/4 centimeter in diameter, sometimes two or three strings come out of a single tube

there are literally hundreds of them, the strings move but the tubes (which aren't as long as the strings) seem to stay put, can anyone tell me what these things are, I also have a few in the sand but not near as many as are on the rocks, they seem to eat algae too because my glass is a mess but the rocks are all squeaky clean

any help would be great ;)

these are tube worms. however, i don't think they eat algae.
these are beneficial to the reef, because they get what the fish miss and lands on the rock.
