The first picture, I'm not sure what that is. It came with the rock. For the second picture, what are the little white stuff?

I was fearing it was an aptasia. How do I remove it?

IMO these things are worse than aptasia. You can get predators for aptasia, but I don't know any predator you can add that would get rid of majano.

That said, there are different types of mojanos, and you seem to have the "prettier" varitety with the pink tips. They tend not to spread as quickly as some of the others.

I would still get rid of it though. The best way to eliminate them is to take the rock out of the water and burn them with a cigarette lighter or propane torch... they won't come back after that. If you can't get the rock out, joe's juice or kalk paste will work, but sometimes they require multiple applications.

Pitpat, thanks for the tips. I researched the removal yesterday. Luckily I didn't try to physically remove it, which was my initial thought. I'm going to the LFS today. They said they have this product where the aptasia think's it's food so it ingests the poison. The stem doesn't stick out so injections may take a few tries. I'll pull the rock out for last resort.

thanks again everyone for your help

I have those sponges all over my aquarium. covering the bottom of my rocks and the sponges(no pun intended) that are covering my powerhead inlets. Been wondering what they were for awhile now.
