i was feeding my refugium, which i do once in a while, mainly because i like to see what sort of prehistoric looking creatures will come out of hiding for a snack, and i noticed a worm that was different from the others.
a while back i had a problem with snails dying in my display. i purchased some live rock from a local store that was going out of business, and in it came a member of the Oenonid family. Oenone fulgida to be exact.
well, i was able to remove him, and the rest of that rock went to the sump.
tonight i witnessed this guy:

Was this during the night or day? I always find it facinating what is in your tank that you dont necessarily see.

i won't get rid of this one...as i said, he's in the refugium. when i make the move and start the big tank he won't be tagging along. as for the one that was in the display. i lost about 10 snails to him before i saw him with his head(and alot of his body) inside a large mexican turbo snail's shell, which when i turned the light on, he retracted inside. i just removed the shell and put it in fresh water. out he came....all 6 inches of him.

btw, this one you see above is about a foot long 8O

as for being bad--i wasn't able to purchase any clam until i caught the one in the display. they eat slow moving creatures and clams, by spitting a slime all over them which smothers them to death, and then eating them.

Oh yea, I think I read somewhere about you setting up a bigger tank. That will be a neat new thread :D

I hope I never come across those critters. I don't know how my stomach would hold if I saw one of those. I get live crabs to feed my eel and I scream when I chop that guy up alive. So imagine my fright level, haha.
