Some kind of holothurian perhaps? Maybe even a synatpid from looking at the odd knobby sacs along the body and the length. How large is the clam it's crawling over? I also think you can see tentacles towards the 'top' of the organism.
technoshaman,
thanks for your info.
i was firstly confused to be told that it is a kind of holothurian, sea cucumber.
but after hours of internet research by using the word "synapta" ,
i am convinced that it is a holothurian of genre: synapta .
and i learnt that synapta sp. is similar to synaptula sp. which is always sold as medusa worm.
i am not sure whether it was a clam the sea cucumber was crawling since i couldn'e see clearly as it was a night dive.
i couldn't remember that i saw the tentacles also cos at that time, i thought it was just some kind of macroalgae
however from the photo, i can see some tentacles at the end heading inside the rock.
Yeah I figured it was probably a synaptid/medusa worm by the look of the body. They are interesting critters. Occasionally imported they are best left in the ocean IMO - obligate feeders and can be extremely toxic if they die in your system.
