nutrient export. frequent water changes. skim heavily. i had an emerald mithrax, but he wouldn't eat the valonia and went after polyps. he had to go bye bye.

Don't immediately assume "bubble algae" is Valonia sp.

I take my rock out periodically and pop the bubbles in a bucket of SW. Unforuntatley I have alot of bubble algae buried under some turf algae - makes it real tough to get them all.

Just purchased an emerald crab - so far so good - starting to find and munch on the bubble algae.

I `ve never found bubble algae to be a big problem.I have two tank that it grows in but I only have to clean out a few every couple of months. It doesn`t seem to grow or spread very fast at all.
