Another "what the heck is this?" Question/Revisite

Can any one help me identify what's in this pic?

What looks like white slime algae and the other "thing" to it's right?
Thanks for any help.

Update: I figured out that the white slime was die-off, happened on 3 other rocks. The purple other "thing" has since become food for the hitch-hiking crabs and hermits and is long gone.

Wanted to share this photo for other newbs that have to cure their own LR.
