Active Reefer
About a month ago I was pacing by my aquarium and noticed "a stick laying across a rock where no stick usually is." I tried to get a closer look, but it was too dark in the room/tank to see. So, I got out a little camp lantern an saw something rapidly retreating which looked remarkably like the picture next to "Sipunculan or peanut worm" in the Hitchhiker FAQ. It also had the same "unrolled itself like a sock" behavior.

"Cool!" sez I, "a peanut worm." But then I read on. The Hitchhiker FAQ mentions it being about a quarter inch long. One of the other pages linked from the FAQ says that some spinunculan worms can reach lengths of 30cm, but most reef species are generally around 5cm.

Now, what I saw was stretched out alll the way across a rather large piece of liverock. Probably about 4 inches, at least. And, from the pictures, etc. I am pretty sure all I saw was the introvert, none of it's "body".

What do ya think? Just 'really health'?

I've seen a couple of my peanut worms at about 3" or so. Wouldn't suprise me if you just have a big 'un. :)

Don't know about reef species, but some coldwater ones get about 6" or so.
