That sounds like a condylactis. The pink tips are the zooanthellae, and they're supposed to look like that!
My anemone was brought to me like that and has thrived. He is always fully extended right in the path of light and readily eats shrimp. He is white with little purple on the tips and a pinkish/orange color on the underside. he has grown since I put him in the tank.
