... this weird thing!

The story goes like this: I went to pick up what I thought was a piece of rubble rock and move it so I could make the rock structure a tad more stable. Turned out to be a two pound chunk of LR. On the end of the LR, I found this thing... no clue what it is, but it sure as heck looks like a coral. I've noticed a break in it, where a section of white is showing through.

Please ID and if possible, tell me what I can do to help this guy through. My tank does not have MH's yet, but I can ask the LFS to keep the rock for me and hospitalize if necessary.

Thanks!

J.

A sponge, hm?

Cool :) I didn't know that sponges came in pink. I guess, I'm surprised that this thing still has color after being buried in the sand for 2+ months. With all the little branches and curving.... are there encrusting sponges? Maybe that's why it has such an unusual shape...

Yes. Almost all sponges that come on LR are encrusting and are generally hardier than the ones you can buy. There are many different types. Hope this helps! :D
