Hey reefers,

On a rock in my new tank, I noticed a new, really creepy looking mass of worms(i think). They take up about a 1cm in diameter area on the side of a rock, are white in color, and seem pretty short.

Have you ever upset a mushroom very badly? Know the weird white squigglies that come out of the middle? Imagine that without the mushroom. Hmm.

I have no idea what this is, or where it came from. It popped up earlier today, and I hadn't seen anything like this in the tank over the first 6 weeks of cycling. Any guesses as to what it is?

Not just the tentacles of a medussa/spaghetti worm? When retracted they can resemble alot of small worms, although they originate from a single worm....

Only thing I can think of right off.

Once I cut up an mushroom anemone, I saw flat worms came oozing out with the anemone's internal liquid. They are short as well, but I don't know if that's what you are seeing?

Nope, not spaghetti worms... the little tentacle-things are much thicker on this beast, as well as much shorter.

Wait, did you see worms in addition to the squiggly innards of a mushroom? Or was it just the squiggly mess that is the inside of a mushroom? Either way, that's exactly what they look like. Pure white, little pile of short white squigglies. But, there was no mushroom anywhere near them, and I don't see how the inside of a mushroom would escape and re-attach itself to a rock across the tank.

I'm not especially worried about these things, but I'd like to know if it's something that will grow, kill everything in my tank, and then emerge from the tank to kill me.

don't be, prob'ly not, and time will tell.. :P

wade's guess is prob'ly it..(it may also be possible that a mushroom did eject its acontia(?), and they did stick to a remote rock-i've seen a mushroom do this once or twice...and the acontia are prob'ly abit 'sticky'.)
either way, no biggie...got a pic?
