sand roachs?

hey everyone, i found some funny looking "bugs" they range in size from 1/4-1 1/2 in and reside in the sand bed, they do not look like crabs or shrimp, they are a lite sand color, and look some what like a beatle. sorry i have no pic available, anyways does any one know what they are? are they reef safe?

There's a good chance these are covered in the HHFAQ, and might be amphipods, which are pictured there. You should take a peek at it if you haven't already.

Those little bastards are usually parasitic or I should say of the 2 times I have had them in my tanks they got onto fish. Did you buy a new coral or live rock lately? I am not aware of all the different types of feeding behaviors but, some detritivores like this would be cool. Kinda like ZZ Top w/ those cheap sunglass eyes. Keep in mind my answer is personal ob. , not scientific fact.
