I am completely new to the salt water game. I started my tank 4 weeks ago and had the misfortune of a leak at the bottom of my tank. Upon switching over everything survived and I found a little clam of sorts on my sandbed, it's maybe 1/4 inch in size. Do people get these with there live rock often?

I've found Clams, Mussels, and Oysters in my rock. I believe they're pretty common. They need quite a bit of phytoplankton to survive though.

I've got one little 1" clam that hitchiked. He has been there close to a year now.

Giant clam? I doubt it without LFS charge you big bucks for the rock. Most likely, it's mussel or oyster. (I doubt it's the pearl oyster).
