Ok, this little guy is extremely weird. It came in on a rock of button polyps. This guy lives in the rock with a round head sticking out about 1/4th inch and is a purplish/red color. Attached to this circular head are 8 clear tentacles. But these tentacles are not simply straight. They are branched. I observed this little guy sweeping these tentacles slowly and then sucking it in its mouth and pulling it back out slowly. Like he is slurping something off. This seemed to be done in a routine fashion. I squirted this guy with a turkey baster to see what he would do. He pulled his head and most of the tentacles back in. Sorry, I don't have a pic. Thanks for your help.

Michelle

Forgot to add that the tentacles are about 1/2inch long.

Sounds like a cuke to me, too. I've seen them over the years, and have even sold them at a shop I worked at. They are very interesting to watch; I could never get a photo of these little guys. I finally have a good macro setup on my camera, but alas I never got one of these babys for myself.

Be aware that if it is a cucumber, it may release toxins if injured or killed. I'm not sure of the species, but a few are considered safe. Surely there's info in the archives.
