I found a small white/cream starfish with some specs of brown on it on a new piece of Gulf rock. It is about a half inch across and is slightly pimply. It has a similar shape to the reticulated sea star.

Is it reef safe?

I missed the Shimek articles at first. It seems I have that possible algal/detrius grazer.

The next quetion is...will my shrimp(lysamata ambionesis)eat him?

The pic posted looks like an Asterina sp. seastar. Many of these eat corals.Harlequin shrimp will eat these stars if they are a problem in your reef tank.
