Hi! Can anyone identify this for me?? At the LFS, they told me it was Anthelia. But it sort of looks like some kind of xenia to me?? I'm sorry the pic is not the greatest, but best I could manage.

How much is this stuff gonna open up? It is just now starting to open a little in my tank. I'm very curious to find out what this is so I can get some info on the correct requirements for it. Thanks!!

Well, It is certainlly not anthelia, anthelia doesn't have a thick stalk like that, I agree it does look like some kind of xenia, although it is very unusual.

It is Cladiella. Look at Sprung's Corals, a quick ref guide page 161. It is also called cauliflower coral. It forms dark polyps that cover the surface and then it appears white with brown dots when it is contracted. Your's is contracted.

It also looks like an unhappy Colt or Capnella Coral.

I really like capnella's, but not fond of colts. One is harmless, the other stings everybody.

keep us posted if the polyps come out more,
