did my duty and went all through the faq's first. some of my live rock is as old as three years and all very corraline (except underneath). all of a sudden i am growing what appear to be sponges. they are on two rocks and opposite ends of a 125 gallon tank. one rock seems to have them growing between the bumps and the other looks like a piece of broccoli. they are a real bright lime green chartruses color. what do you think?
thanks,
damsel

I think you've got yourself a reef aquarium, my friend! Enjoy!
Mine's coming up on 3 years old as well, and every now and then, I still find something new!

As far as where the sudden growth came from, ....dunno. Spores in the air, in the food you add, in new arrivals added to the tank, or maybe the conditions are right, at this moment.
This is how mother nature "scams" you into buying books... so that you can identify what the heck it is that you've got.

(helpful, aren't I)
(I've seen the same colour sponges come and go in mine BTW)
