That is a black finger reef crab aka rock crab Family Xanthidae I think. I wouldn't put him back in your reef if I were you. They are not reef safe not because they eat corals but because they eat anything else (fish, inverts) they also like to rearange your rock if they don't like it. He probably hitched in on your rock.
