I have had these stars in my tank for a while and did not think that they harm anything. Today the light comes on and they are eating the star polyps. They left a whole in 2 spots. What is a way to get rid of them. I have been taking them out but their is hundreds of them.

Get a Harlequin shrimp. They are very cool critters and they will feast on those little stars! You have to make sure you feed them chocolate chip star fish after they finish off the asternias that you have now.

most species are harmless detris and algae grazers, but there are a few of them that do eat softies..so keep an eye on them

i had them in my tank too, i took the time to remove them..about 100 of them. they too were eating my corals

Have a bunch as well, they crawl all over my corals...never harm them
