What is the best way to clean filter socks. I use 4" 200 micron filter socks in my sump. I replace every 2-3 days, but I haven't figured the best way to clean them yet:tub:. This is probably the most tedious part of reef keeping for me. :bablefishEverything else is great. Any suggestions?

I used to wash mine in bleach in the washing machine. I would do a second wash with only water to rinse out any remaining bleach though.

Take a bucket of hot water and bleach and stick it in there.

Let it soak for a few hours and then rinse it really well.

Washing machine works just as well but there is always soap residue left inside the drum of the washer. SO to risky for me.

Never know and don't want to take any chances.

Bleach, like chlorine to a bathing suit, will degrade the material faster. I just use plain hot water in the washing machine and it comes out great. I only need to do a single cycle (because I don't use any detergent or bleach). I do run it through the dryer, but I think this is unnecessary.
