Dear Terry,
Just read your article and believe that changing water really improves a lot, not only on polyp expansion, but also in coral growth.
My point to add is; if one can get good quality natural sea water, things go even better than with any of the salt mixes available in the market. I used several brands for a long period of time, and in the new 300 gal tank I have, only nsw entered. I am impressed with what I am seeing daily.

Supplier is asked if water is old or new.
Old - water is prefiltered and stored. Change is made siphoning the water from the 250 lts reservoirs very carefully.
New - immediately put in reservoirs and changed with aquarium water.
"New" water is freshly collected, 24 hours from the sea.
Never had problems.
