NOTE: IM NO PRO, This is just a general bullet point check list I’ll keep adding to for people who wanna keep sharks

this is for the only 3 sharks i have and can give advice on
BAMBOO BANDED CAT SHARKS
CORAL CAT SHARKS
MARBLED CAT SHARKS

Starting off with size

i would recommend as a baby starting with no less then a 8‘ x 4’ tank
(They grow fast)
I wouldn’t be opposed to having a egg and a new born in something smaller then move it over pretty soon after.

for long term and don’t wanna upgrade, i would say nothing less then a 10-12’ x 5-6’ tank

if going with fish and sharks you want long and high and a lifted aquascape that keeps rocks and caves out of the sand
So i would say 36-48” minimum

if a lot of fish I’ll say 48” and more on height and have rocks arching and high up

if no fish then 24”-30” would be fine in my opinion.

Also rounded corners isn’t as big of a deal on cat sharks since they are bottom dwellers but it could be a plus or if you have away to have trim on the corners and rock scape them so the sharks can see them easier.

rock scape

you want large enough caves of some sort for the sharks, mine Like to sleep together so 1 big one worked.

CEMENT EVERYTHING & GLUE
i don’t care how heavy the rock is and how much you made sure it was stable they will knock it down
(literally has been my biggest struggle because i didn’t)

if small amount of fish i would go with a few caves and hiding places up high and minimum-none in the sand try to leave the sand bed open

if going with a lot of fish just make sure you have large lifted aqua scape with caves and all out of the sand so the fish can have a place to sleep and not get messed with as much.

Coral I’ll say shoot for only easy growing lps and softies mostly anything else would most likely get broken and fragged
