after 2 years some question

1. powerheads or closed loop and could someone define closed loop, i see a lot of pvc and a big pump but whats the goal, setup actually doing?

2. after 2 years i still get green algea on my glass that i have to clean everyday, its like a coraline type and it lays accross my sandbed its so ugly

tank temp is 81.
water is a ok with 450 cal, 8meg dh , 0,0,0 on the nitrate cycle, and ph is steady at 8.25, salinity is 1.024-1.025 depending on my topoff system lvl.

closed loop draws from the tank not sump and returns to the tank . so if the power goes out you aint spilling water . it gits rid of powerheads or submersible pumps and adds large flow to tank . your algae could be from high tds water durring water makeup and or your bulbs are old or the wrong color or about 100 or so variables i didnt mention

Yea what he said LOL No seriously there are numerous reasons you may be having this issue. Im would start with the fuel/food that this algae feeds on PHOSPHATES............. Have your tap water tested. If you are using RO/DI water still have it tested. I bought a 300 $ RO/DI for lab grade water and my makeup water was testing for phosphates. There is also much debate over certain types of additives,carbon, and food that will contribute to your phosphate levels.

Try using RowAPhos. I was having problems with phosphates too and this stuff really worked for me. Be sure to follow the instructions to the point where it says you dont have to rinse it. Haaaaaaaaaaaaaa that is BS I didnt rinse my like a good little packeage reader and it bloomed a huge rust colored foig in my tank for hours. LFS said no harm no foul but it really freaked me out.
