    Jen, It sounds like it was some sort of amphipod. A mantis has stalked eyes, though they are pretty bizarre looking in their own way.

    Angela, I have a pair that were bred at ORA (Oceans, Reefs, and Aquariums) out of Florida. They produce some really nice fish, very colorful.
