Heya gang,

Could someone take a few minutes to post a list of things I need to do? Is there anything that needs working on right now? I'm having a real hard time figuring out what I need to do, if anything.

Also, I noticed that Eric hasn't been able to get on IRC for the discussion sessions. I understand last night, as the IRC server was messed up, but what about before? He is in Indonesia right now, and will be there for a little while longer. What did he leave y'all with before he left...assignments and such.

Cheers
James

Hey James;

I don't think any of us really expected to hear from Eric after he left Monterey. He said he'd try to get on at an Internet Cafe somewheres but no promises.

We're supposed to be catching up on our reading: anything we hadn't done out of EIS or AC that was already posted along with Dubinsky, Bauplin and the Histology files. We were also supposed to be conducting our first lab and working on the quiz with both being due on April 22nd.

I've been wondering where the Sorokin reading is located? I can't open those jpgs or gifs or whatever they are from my home computer and my time is limited on computers elsewhere. Also, if you're just itching for something to do
wink.gif
having the photos, graphs, charts, etc. from Dubinsky converted to pdf would be a help.

I'm glad we had the extra time, I know some of the members of the class (myself included) spent massive amounts of time downloading and converting the assorted files.

James it would be nice if we had the lecture notes for Week 4 (I assume we're back to calling it that again). Bill2 indicated that he had notes from Eric but couldn't get them into a format that he could upload for us.

That would be a great place to start.

Yeah, Bill mentioned that the 4th lecture was corrupt somehow and he was going to try to work with Eric at WMC to figure out what was wrong w/ the file. So far that file has not been posted to the Lectures folder.

Quizzes and the first lab are due on the 22nd when Eric returns according to the last chat we had with him on IRC.

In the Quizzes folder ( http://www.reefs.org/maco/course_2/quizzes/ ) there should not be a Week 3 quiz analysis done yet as that is the one that is due on the 22nd.

That's everything I can see at the moment that needs attention...

OK, the week 3 Quiz analyses have been removed.

I'll talk w/ bill and see what I can do w/ the Week 4 material.

Hey James,

I'll bet you're thinking about Bali even as we speak... heheheheheh...

These are things that I would like to see, even though we may still have these available as .gif files.

the bauplan(sic) notes in .pdf files format
the other notes that were intended for week 3 that are currently in gif format available as .pdf format files
a set of reading assignments for EIS and AC as to where we are to be
the Sorokin available as .pdf files also
referral to the weeks as the date they start, rather than which week's lectures they are to be (i.e., instead of Week 5, make it 042301_lecture, and 042301_quiz, etc.

These are just suggestions, it is nice to FINALLY have all 3 of the required texts, but having the supplemental reading in easily accessable formats would be even better!

Thanks, I know you are working your butt off on this class, and believe me, everyone here appreciates it more than you could know. I know that in order for me to really do the quiz, I have a lot of reading to do, I cannot get about half the supplemental reading to print correctly, even with pm reader...

Tom, thanks for taking the time to give some feedback.

I will get all of the Readings and lectures posted in .PDF format if/when Eric gives me the hard copies (as soon as he gets back).

I was getting a little confused by the naming conventions as well. Using "week" is confusing because we skipped weeks. It's either "lecture1" "Quiz1" etc or we go w/ the dates like you suggested.

I'll clear all this w/ Eric when he gets back and move forward.

Cheers
