I'm starting my tank downgrade / breakdown and the first to go is my large polyp pink gorgonian. If you have seen the large colonies of gorgonian at Atlantis Marine World Aquarium this is the same one. No feeding required and super hardy. Fast grower as well.

I have 20 3" frags. $10. Pick up in Manhattan (22nd and 7th) or New Jersey (08830). I will be going to LI (Medford) on Saturday so I can bring frags out with me.

The pic below is one of the mother colonies (I have two total).

dom how many non photo syn gorgs do you have ? since i am not doing corals in my ap 24 thinking of doing gorgs. btw that you would sell. or possibly ship

I am fragging small pieces to put in my 24 gal AP and all of the rest are going to be for sale. It is going to be a lot since I have some monster colonies. I have many non-photo and photo gorgs and seafans.

I'll be posting things up for sale here as I have time to locate pictures. If you want to call dibs on anything go to my tank thread (Seahorse & Pipefish Haven) or my past Gorgonian and Seafan for sale thread. All of the same are available plus more.

I'll take one. I may be able to p/u in the city on Friday and can let you know tomorrow.

Question for you. I have 2 photo gorgs and I don't notice any growth. They are in a high nutrient environment. Do you think this is contributing to lack of growth. Also, on your thread with the non-phot gorgs, what do you recommend feeding?

Many of the photo gorgs will not grow much in high nutrient tanks. This particular gorg does grow in high nutrients and remarkably fast. I have frags that grew an inch-long branch in a couple of weeks (not the norm though). ellebelle (Lissa) has a frag I gave her and it looked like it tripled its size at least since she has had it (her tank water params are much better than mine).

I have fed my non-photo gorgs all types of foods (cyclopeeze, live phyto, dried plankton, etc). The best food IME is the dried powdered plankton you can get from Sachs Aquaculture (I have a lot of it if you want to try it).

It really depends on the type of gorg though. Each type may eat different sized foods. My Yellow Finger Leather eats Hikari Micro Pellets and small pieces of mysis. Others will only eat powdered plankton or live phyto. Let me know which non-photo gorg you are thinking about and I'll tell you what worked best more specifically.
