i have a rock with red mushrooms, they are starting to fall off the rock.can anyone tell me why this might be happening?? or is this normal

Not really sure, but one came off my rock too after it turned very small. I placed it somewhere else, it re-attached and now it's wide open.

Just another thought to add to everyone else advise, have you checked your PH and KH? if your Carbonate hardness (KH) drops your mushrooms will be unhappy.

as would any LPS or softie - these (KH/PH) must be maintained to make them happy (among other things), also, what Huerfan said, flow, lighting and crowding - and lastly, stress due to moving them - they sometimes stress out after a move (frm one tank to another) and release -

If you have halides, move them out of direct light, that seemed to work for me on my Blues, reds and green stripers.
