Hi,

Does anyone know where I can buy Berghia Nudibranch? I have a few of aiptasia anemones, and I was told that Berghia Nudibranch is the best. Does anyone have any experience with them?

Thanks,
Lana

Lana,

Just put a couple in my tank today. I'll tell you how it works out. Meanwhile, you can find them at Inland Aquatics

They are a bit costly and I've no experience whatsoever with either these nudibranch or this company, but nobody else had them in stock.

I purchased some berghia's from Inland...
they did a good job of finding and eating aiptasia
However at some point I could no longer locate them... I'm guessing they died and were eaten...
Expensive critters....

Thanks for your replies.

Jhale, thanks for the suggestion.

Spyro, would you like to sell one of them or lease it for a fee after your aiptasia is gone?

Thanks,
Lana

Good luck! I read eric bornemans article, I don't have any aiptasia in my tank now, but you never know what will show up.
from what he wrote they don't seem like the easiest creatures to keep alive. maybe you guys can start an aiptasia cleaning service:)

Lana, they are so small, less than an inch, I'm hoping to say yes, but trully don't know how long they will last.

I'll do my best.

Thank you.

I hope they will do the job and stay alive. Do you have a lot of aiptasia? I only have about 5 or 6, and my two peppermint shrimps are taking care of all but one large aiptasia.

Berghia nudi's did a great job in my tank. I was away during the blackout of '03. Almost everythng in my tank died and when I got back, I had a total infestation with aptasias. 1 of these guys cleaned it up in no time, but I have to say, after the aptasias were gone, this thing was a goner not long after that. They also like to catch currents to move around, rather than crawl. I pulled the little guy out of my sump 3 times. They may also eat carpet leathers. Nudi's are very delicate, so when you put it in your tank, acclimate it very slow... drip would be best and don't put it in the tank next to an aptasia. An aptasia will eat a newly introduced berghia. I tried joes juice, aptasia stop, injecting boiling water... just about everything with little to no success. Berghia's can do the job, but I don't think it's worth killing one for 5 or 6 aptasias when they could be controlled with good husbandry.
