i have a peacock mantis for sale $35. it's about 4 inches long. Very active.

That is crazy looking! Wish I had a separate set-up for him!

What do you folks think about keeping him in the sump?? My sump has 3 chambers; he'd go into the middle one with some LR and sand. They don't need much space, do they?? Do they only eat live food, or frozen would work also??

I would say because it's a smasher I wouldn't put it in any tank that isn't that thick. Remember they strike with the force of a .22 caliber bullet.

I heard acrylic tank is ok. Definately not good for any glass tank. I've see a photo of tank cracked by Mantis shrimp, I believe it was 10G AGA tank.

I think I'll have to pass since my sump is glass. Wouldn't want that cracking! One of these days, if I upgrade, I'll make sure to get an acrylic sump with a large chamber to keep one of these guys/gals in!

yeah he's in my sump which is acrylic i don't recommend glass unless it is 3/4 inch thick. i feed him snails and frozen krill. he eats anything, even mysis shrimp.
