Anyone have SID unit for RKL????

Hey everyone, I'm trying to update my RKL and it keeps coming up with an error. My lights have been off for almost 2 days now and I am getting worried about all my livestock!!!! I have called digital aquatics many many times and so far no matter what they tell me to do it is not working. They said that my SID unit might be messed up and will send me a new one if that is the case. There is one more thing I need to try before they send me a new one which I will do as soon as I get out of work. Sooo my question is, does anyone have an SID unit that I could borrow tonight that lives in eastern Long Island to see if that is the problem with my system? I would really appreciate it!!!

I'm in Moriches which is south of riverhead....

No way to bypass it. I got the LED's with connections for the RKL's ALC module, and not the other connections to just plug it into another variable voltage adapter that could be purchased at radioshack or Home Depot.

Thanx for offering the head unit/display everyone. I'm guessing that would work for a quick fix if you have a spare that I could use. The SID unit is the little black rectangular box that measures about 3 inches by 1 inch and has two plugs to plug in cords. It comes with the RKL and RKE and is used only if you have to update. It is the converter that allows the cord coming from the display to be converted into a USB coming out the other side to plug into the computer for the updates.

Just tried a few more things with Digital Aquatics on the phone and its still not working!! Any SIDs in the area???!!!!

Thanks Beerfish i'm going to try to get it from someone closer, but if all else fails I might make a trip out there!

There is an adapter for the ALC "molex connectors" to be plugged into a variable voltage adapter that plugs into the wall?

Should be something that will work. Take the unit to radio shack. Look for their metal cabinets of electrical components (usually covered in dust near the back of the store). You may be able to rig something up in case of situations like this.

So I met up with JimmyR1rider (thanks to everyone else who offered to help me out!) and got 2 SID units and 1RKL head unit as well as a couple of new cords. Everything needed to replace my setup with new hardware to see what the problem was. NOTHING WORKED!!!! no combination of the 3 SID units I had and 2 RKL head units worked! My only hopes are to go to a friends house tomorrow to try to download the update program again and try from his computer or purchase an adapter from radio shack :letitallo

lets hope a different computer does the trick.. thanks again to JR1R for trying to help me out!!!

HOLY CRAP!!! NOTHING WORKED? Is it possibly a computer issue with the software from the digital aquatics forum?

Shoot man sorry- we tried! Get Jack from Digital Aquatics to come to your house and replace evrything with his pc! LOL Good luck getting this straightened out- but at least you know it wasnt your equipment as in the sid unit or anything. Im thinkin theres a rpoblem with the software possibly that certain parts arent downloading maybe?

And no porblem at all man ever need anything I csn help you out with give me a shout

It seems like (according to DA) a problem with the software they tell you to download. He kept saying a new version will be released on monday, but I am not getting my hopes up for that. Gonna try other means and if that doesn't work I'll be borrowing a fixture for the weekend. Thanks again to JR1R for trying to help!

Nah not yet... I just called Radioshack and described to them what I needed and he said they don't carry anything like that. I mentioned "molex" connectors and he hadn't heard of them. Anyone know of any other electrical component stores that might have what I need?
