i as well use one, i run pura complete, a little phosban, topped off with a little carbon. dont know if it makes a differance cause i have always used one, carbon keeps your water clear though, since switching and using pura complete which also has phosphate removal i would say from visual corals seem happier

yes you can, i have 2 as well but room is more limited in this set-up, i had a mj1200 when i ran them off one pump, you just have to set control vavle to adjust for flow through each reactor, you want flow as minimal as possible

the best way 2 run any phosphate material is to have it tumble in the reactor which would have to be low flow. when running carbon it needs much more flow that's why I use 2 separate reactors and 2 separate pumps.

Brian, as stated above, the two medias need to be run with different flows. It's very important to run the Phosban or equivalent GFO (Granular Ferric Oxide) at a low flow. The only movement you want from that is the very top layer of media to slightly tumble.

The carbon on the other hand requires a much more aggressive flow. Having it suspended in the reactor and tumble is the appropriate way to go.

You will hear some people say they run both the carbon and the GFO in the same chamber with success. I don't doubt their claim. However, if the GFO breaks down and enters your display tank, it can have disastrous effects on your coral.

I run both, in separate reactors with separate pumps.

I agree with MASTER....Use each media with a seporate reactor...All different media requires different flow rates.

< Is Using Both In One And Having Success. Been Doing It For 4 Months Now, Carbon Is On Top So It Actually Gets Aggitated A Little More, But Really With Using The Pura Complete I Dont Need To Use Any Other Media, Which After Next Change Out Is All I Will Be Using

I am using about 4 inches of PhosGuard with a MJ 400. The media is not moving at all. Does this sound right/wrong ?
