I am about to convert my 330l freshwater into a fowlr, just wondering if getting my tank drilled is the best option. Does this ever go wrong, my lfs has assured me it will be fine, but they would! I want to have a sump for my eqipment and to increase the volume of water in my system. Any input greatly welcomed, thanks.

it won't go wrong if they (the people who are to do the drilling) will guarantee their work. it's certainly better t have a drilled tank, but you can get along without drilling too.

I have asked loads of questions and they say that they have never had any problems before and that they do it all the time. Don't fancy doing it myself as have never drilled glass and there work is guaranteed. Have lookrd into having a hang on weir but it seems that they have the potential to cause problems. Cheers for your help mate.

IMO getting it drilled is the way to go. I wouldn't worry - it's really not that difficult (I've done it many times - never a problem).

Thanks for the advice, I am going to get it drilled around the 8 jan. The guy at the lfs said he would come round my house and do it. My tank is a pain to get through the door. Thanks.

I hope he bring a drill press with him. Drilling glass tank is a real pain without a drill press, but I know people can do it with a cordless drill 8O

The guy is 110% sure that it will be fine, i asked if anything did go wrong what would happen. He has given me a guarantee that he will have the tank repaired and if that is not possible ha will replace tha tank for me. As it is a corner tank it is really awkward to move it out of my house, when i got it in i had to touch up the door frames with paint afterwards as it is that tight a fit. This seeme the easiest way of doing it.Thanks for your help.
