Power Compact bulb???

I'm looking to purchase new bulbs for my 4x96W PC light. The fixture came with (2) Daylight 6700K/10000K and (2) actinic 420nm/460nm.

I can get a good deal on bulbs but they are 96W 10000K and 420nm bulbs. What will I loose if I use these to replace the dual bulbs that are currently in the fixture?

Not sure about the brand, but the temp rating on the bulbs is fine.

I personally like the 10,000k better then the 10000k/6700k... a little brighter I think.


I believe the 460 is the blue and the 420 is the true actinic, so you'll loose a little blueing

I was happy with 2-10,000k and 2-420nm/460nm

What benefits if any do 6700K bulbs provide? I'm thinking I should get (1)10000K, (1)6700K, and (2) 420nm, but if the 6700K offers no benefit I'll get (2) 10000K.

I'm not sure what else benefits from lower temp but I'm growing macro with 5500k & 6500k
