I need to buy sand for a 125 gallon tank. I'd like to use dry but seed it with a bag of live. Is it possible to get the same brand/size/color in both dry and live? I'd like to buy a pink-colored sand. Also, what's the best size to buy? I plan on keeping inverts and sand sifters, gobies, etc.

Best place to buy online?

Thanks everyone.

If you go with a deep sand bed you want a mixture of all sizes.. use about an inch or two of a #0 and #2 mixed to prevent Hydrogen Sulfide production and top it off with 2-3 inches of #1.. if you go with a regular sand bed just stick with #1 and about 10-20% #2

I got that guide from someone with a PHD in marine biology, has performed tons of experiments, written papers, and 40 years reefing. You have ??? The different grain sizes allow more organisms to grow in your sand.. certain organisms only grow within a certain grain size. More grain sizes = more organisms and who the hell cares about how many posts they have? Am I gonna get some type of prize if I have a certain amount of posts?

Yea but if you have a deep sand bed you need as many organisms as you can get or you'll end up like the people on here who say DSB's don't work and they cause a system to crash cause if it's not done right in a year or so you'll run into a mess of problems. Also our tanks are replicas of ocean reefs and if you are trying to replicate the natural filtration in the ocean (PHD aside) wouldn't you want the same type of sand bed in your tank? I doubt reefs have only one grain size.
